Weight Loss Smoothies: The Wonder Solution or just Another Must-Follow Trend?


Weight Loss SmoothiesFrankly, I don’t have the courage of replacing each and every meal with a weight loss smoothie. I my mind, that’s not eating, it’s drinking. Maybe if I were to eat it with a spoon, like soup. But since I’ve decided to drink as many as I can, especially at breakfast time, I’ve realized that they do take away the hunger a lot better that appetite suppressants and they are after all something I can make at home.

Of course, I usually drink the produced alternatives of smoothies, that come in powder and can be prepared, but I also do my own occasionally or at least add a consistent amount of fruits to those, and then just place everything in a blender. They do taste way too delicious to seem for real. So it’s no wonder I’ve had mixed feeling about them.

I’ve read how they would really really diminish the appetite. That is somewhat true, if you drink enough of them. But when we are talking about smoothies that are made at home and are filled with appetite stimulant fruits like apples, I would have to admit that I was actually feeling hungry after drinking one. The idea is to drink those that are made for this purpose, which also include proteins from soy or whey, or to make your at home but also include fruits that can make you feel full, like bananas or avocado. Or, you could fill the blender with fruits and cereals. But be careful to let the cereals smoothen for a while in a glass of fruit juice, or the weight loss smoothies that result will not be very blended.

When you hear various commercials that are about weight loss smoothies and emphasis the fact that they are the fastest way to lose weight you are, just as me, inclined to try them. That’s the main reason I turned to them. But, if you were to take someone that has a restrictive diet and practically starves himself and compare him to you while you are dinking these weight loss smoothies, then you will see that he is loosing a lot more weight than you are at first. Well, it’s true that after he stops the diet (or enters the hospital for being malnourished) he will gain all the weight immediately, and you might not gain it back, at least not all of it. That’s because the weight loss smoothies are not starving you body. You are actually eating, even if you don’t feel that you are. Even when I felt like I was hungry, it wasn’t an excruciating sensation and it was never followed by a general lack of energy…on the contrary. I am full of energy, and I blame this on all the fruits I mix every morning in my blender.

Morning weight loss smoothies changed the way I feel throughout the day. It’s true that I don’t go to sleep at late night hours, but I am waking up quite early and I am feeling very full of life. I mean, I get up and have a smoothie then I go out for my morning jog. And just two months ago I was so tired in the morning that I was barely able to get out of better, not to mention jogging…

Still, I can not imagine not eating something solid at lunch and dinner. A salad, anything, as long as it’s not another drink. But the truth is that I do like the weight loss smoothies and sometimes make my own with various fruits and drink them as nectar near my meal.

There is no need for skeptical thinking here, what you need is hard work and discipline.

You have to stick to the diet if you are asked to, eat a well-balanced diet and perform frequent exercises. Those are always the main factors involved in making any weight loss plan or diet successful and effective. If you are unable to handle this, then your fate in losing weight is all in your hands; but if you do so, you will be rewarded for all of that hard work.
